Tip:
Think of your "About Us" page like the selling text in a book. The selling text (blurb and author bio) is designed to persuade the reader of the book's value and the author's credentials. Your "About Us" page should be no different.
Tip:
Add a picture: Remind prospective customers that there are people behind your company's success. Include photos of executives and other key managers along with their profiles.
Tip:
Tell your company's story. A company history timeline is a great way to highlight achievements without bragging.

How to Optimize Your Website for Search Engines
By cadam

The objective of Search Engine Optimization is to increase web visitor counts by ranking very high in the results of searches using the most appropriate keywords describing the content of your site. Below are some tips to help you accomplish this goal.

Select a powerful title tag. This is the most important criteria since most search engines place the highest level of importance on this tag. Try to keep your text between 50-80 characters as there is a limit and try to include both the site title and a keyword phrase.

Optimize every page on your website. This is often overlooked and can help you compete with your competition for less widely used keywords

Optimizing your Page Content. Always keep in mind as you write site content the keywords your page is targeting so that you can rank better within search engines.

Add the keyword and description meta tags. While search engines don't place as much importance on these two tags as they used to - it is still important to add them in to each page and include relavent keyword phrases.

Add alt attributes to image tags. Some search engines do look at alt attributes, so it is best if you provide a brief keyword phrase to each of your images.

You should not try and trick search engines as they have extensive rules for what they consider spamming and will actually penalize your site for these violations (see the warnings)

Related Links. Links from related or relevant sites are more important than generic links from unrelated websites. Links are seen as "votes" of quality content. Search engines weigh links from websites that contain related or similar content more importantly, than links from unrelated websites. Work to obtain relevant quality links from related or authority websites.

Update Content. Search engines give higher preference to websites that change their content on a frequent basis. Try to add new content or webpages daily or weekly to increase a search engine spider's frequency.

How to Calculate Keyword Density & What It Should Be
By dovinea

Keyword density is the number of times a keyword is used on a web page and plays a major role in search engine optimization. Too few words can keep your website from being indexed, while too many words can cause penalization from search engines.

To determine your keyword density, you will need to start by getting a total word count for your page. This can be done by copying the text of each page into a word processing program and using the word count tool. Once you have determined the total number of words on your page, you will need to count the number of times your keywords appear.

Now that you have a the total number of words, and the number of times your keyword is used, simply divide the number of keywords by the number or total words to give you a percentage of keyword density.

For example, if you have a total of 500 words on your page, and your keyword appears 10 times, you would take 10 divided by 500, which equals .02 or 2%.

While 2% is a fair percentage, you should really aim for 3% - 5%. Staying between these percentages will keep you in a safe range for indexing. To determine the number of keywords needed to reach the target of 3-5%, simply take the total number of words and multiply it by .03, .04 or .05 to determine the number need to reach 3%, 4%, or 5%.

So, using the above example of 500 words, to determine the number of keywords needed to reach 3%, you would use: 500 x.03= 15, or 15 keywords. For a 4% density, 500 x .04= 20 keywords.

There are also tools available online that will do the math for you. They can be found by doing a search on "Keyword Density Tool" or "Keyword Density Calculator."
